Art. 1.
Constitution
An
Association is hereby formed between the adherents
Art. 2.
Title
The
title of the Association is : Association of Jesuit Higher Education
Institutions in Europe and Lebanon (ASJEL)
Art. 3.
The objectives
The Association
has the following objectives :
- To establish
an organisation for the purpose of improving communication
and exchange of common information, and to facilitate greater
cooperation among its member institutions ;
- To facilitate
by the most appropriate means, increasing mutual cooperation,
and exchange of teachers and students, with a view to establish
a network among members ;
- To promote
the access to information on initiatives of the European Union
and those of other international organisations, and to give
support to the members in their research activities, as well
as in their projects ;
- To promote
a better knowledge of the institutions involved, of the people
in those institutions, of their experiences and their projects
;
- To spread
knowledge of the work of Jesuit institutions of higher learning
in Europe and in Lebanon ;
- To promote
collaboration between Jesuit provinces, Jesuit international
organisations (the Secretariat for Education, OCIPE, the Conference
of European provincials) and between Jesuit educational institutions
world wide.

head office of the Association shall be located…
Art. 5.
Duration
The
Association is founded for an unlimited period of duration.
Art. 6.
Membership
Membership
to the Association is voluntary. There are two categories of members
: The higher educational Institutions The philosophical and theological
centres linked to formation.
Art. 7.
Structure
a)
The General Assembly shall consist of the Presidents/Rectors/Directors
of the Institutions of higher education or their representatives.
It will take place at least once every three years.
The General Assembly elects the members of the Board
for a period of four years renewable. It decides on
the admission of new members, by a two-thirds majority
vote.
b)
The Board of the Association shall comprise five people
elected for a period of four years. Or these : - three
shall be Presidents/Rectors/Directors of institutions
of higher learning or their representatives - two shall
be Presidents/Rectors/Directors of philosophical and
theological centres or their representatives.
c)
The Board :
-
Shall elect one of its members as President of the
Association for a period of three years, renewable
once ;
- Shall
meet at least once a year upon the invitation of
the President of the Association;
- Appoints
the Executive Secretary of the Association for a
period of three years, renewable;
-
Determines the amount of financial contribution
required from each member of the Association;
- Examines
the candidacy of new members, and presents them
to the General Assembly.
Art. 8.
Finances
The
Association shall be maintained by the financial contribution
of the members and by donations or grants made by individual
people as well as by public or private institutions. The
Executive Secretary shall compile and present to the Board
a report on the accounts of the Association each year.
Art. 9.
The Executive Secretary
The
Executive Secretary shall serve the objectives of the
Association. He shall discharge his activity at the
Association's head office, and shall remain in permanent
contact with the President. In addition to what has
been said in articles 7 and 8 above, he has power of
initiative to:

up working groups on a particular question
- submit
to the Board projects and initiatives that he deems
relevant.
Art. 10.
Statutes
These
statutes are provisional. They shall be reviewed at
the next General Assembly of the Association. They have
been approved in their present form by the representatives
of the following institutions :
